Ingredients

900g boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs

2 cups BBQ sauce

1 medium onion, finely diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

0.5 teaspoon salt

0.5 teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

1. Place the chicken in the bottom of the slow cooker in an even layer.

2. In a bowl, mix BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, smoked paprika, onion, salt, and pepper.

3. Pour the sauce over the chicken in the slow cooker, covering it completely.

4. Cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours until the chicken is fork-tender.

5. Remove the chicken and shred using two forks.

6. Return shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir to coat with sauce.

7. Serve hot on buns, over rice, or with your favorite sides.

Notes

Use chicken thighs for a juicier, richer flavor.

To thicken the sauce, cook uncovered on high for 15 minutes or add a cornstarch slurry.
