Ingredients
2 shots espresso
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons water
1 pinch cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
Instructions
1. In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, combine brown sugar, water, and cinnamon. Heat until sugar is dissolved. Stir in vanilla extract if using.
2. Brew 2 shots of espresso (about 1/2 cup). If using instant espresso, dissolve 1 tablespoon espresso powder in 1/2 cup hot water.
3. Add the hot espresso and brown sugar syrup into a mason jar or shaker. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds (ensure the lid is secure and container is heat-safe).
4. Heat the milk until hot but not boiling, then froth using a milk frother, whisk, or French press.
5. Pour the shaken espresso into a mug and top with frothed milk. Garnish with an extra sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.
Notes
For extra creaminess, use whole milk or barista oat milk.
Shake the espresso and syrup while hot to blend flavor deeply.
Make brown sugar syrup ahead and store in the fridge for up to 1 week.
