Description

Ragtag Candies are a colorful, chewy-sweet homemade candy that turns simple pantry staples into a fun no-bake treat. With creamy white chocolate, buttery caramel, fruity gumdrops, and crunchy pecans in every bite, this easy recipe is perfect for holiday dessert trays, homemade candy gifts, sweet snack boards, and festive food ideas when you need an easy recipe that feels special.

Ingredients

2 cups white chocolate chips

14 ounces soft caramels, unwrapped

1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

2 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups fruit gumdrops, chopped

1 cup pecans, chopped

Instructions

1. Line a tray or counter space with wax paper and set aside candy wrappers if using.

2. Chop the gumdrops and pecans into small pieces so the candies are easier to shape and eat.

3. In a heavy saucepan over low heat, combine the white chocolate chips, soft caramels, sweetened condensed milk, and butter.

4. Stir constantly until the mixture is fully melted, smooth, and glossy.

5. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.

6. Fold in the chopped gumdrops and pecans until evenly distributed throughout the candy mixture.

7. Drop spoonfuls onto wax paper or let the mixture cool slightly and shape into rustic candy pieces.

8. Wrap individual portions if desired, then let the candies set at room temperature or chill briefly until firm.

9. Serve once set, or store in an airtight container with wax paper between layers.

Notes

Keep the heat low while melting so the white chocolate stays smooth and does not scorch.

If the mixture feels too sticky to shape, let it cool for a few minutes before portioning.

Store the candies in a cool place so the caramel and coating hold their shape nicely.
