Whether you need a make-ahead dessert, fresh baking ideas, or easy food ideas for gatherings, this recipe delivers sweet layers and bakery-style flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

2 cups graham cracker crumbs

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/4 cup brown sugar

16 ounces cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 medium apples, peeled and chopped

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 cup chopped pecans

1/2 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

2. Mix the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and 1/4 cup brown sugar until fully combined.

3. Press the crust mixture firmly into the prepared pan and bake for 8 minutes.

4. Beat the softened cream cheese until smooth, then mix in the granulated sugar.

5. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing just until the filling is creamy and combined.

6. Pour the cheesecake filling over the warm crust and smooth the top.

7. In a separate bowl, toss the chopped apples with 2 tablespoons brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

8. Spoon the apple mixture evenly over the cheesecake layer.

9. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the apples.

10. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly.

11. Cool the bars at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

12. Drizzle with caramel sauce before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp so the topping stays tender instead of mushy.

Do not overmix the cheesecake filling or overbake the bars, or the texture can turn dry.

For the cleanest slices, chill the bars completely and wipe the knife between cuts.
