Description

Crispy Air Fryer Broccoli is the kind of easy recipe that turns a simple vegetable into a crave-worthy side dish, perfect when you need quick breakfast options with eggs, easy dinner plates alongside chicken or steak, or a healthy snack to crunch on between meals; if you’re hunting for breakfast ideas, dinner ideas, or just fresh food ideas that feel light but satisfying, this golden, garlicky broccoli ticks every box.

Ingredients

1 pound broccoli florets

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 cloves garlic finely minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (plus extra lemon wedges for serving)

Instructions

1. Rinse the broccoli and cut it into medium-size florets, trimming any thick stems so the pieces are fairly uniform. Pat the florets very dry with paper towels so they will crisp instead of steam in the air fryer.

2. Add the dry broccoli florets to a large mixing bowl. Drizzle the olive oil over the top and toss until every piece is lightly and evenly coated.

3. Sprinkle the minced garlic (or garlic powder), kosher salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes over the oiled broccoli. Toss again so the seasonings cling to all sides of the florets.

4. Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C) if your model recommends preheating. Once hot, spread the seasoned broccoli into the basket in a single layer, leaving some space between pieces. Cook in batches if needed so the basket is not crowded.

5. Air fry the broccoli for 8–10 minutes, shaking the basket or tossing the florets halfway through, until the edges are deep golden brown and the stems are just tender when pierced with a fork.

6. Immediately transfer the hot broccoli to a serving plate. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top so it melts slightly onto the florets.

7. Finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, taste, and adjust the seasoning with a pinch more salt or pepper if desired. Serve right away with extra lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

For the crispiest broccoli, make sure the florets are completely dry before adding the oil and seasonings; moisture will cause them to steam instead of brown.

Every air fryer cooks a little differently, so start checking the broccoli a couple of minutes early and adjust the time up or down until you find the sweet spot for your machine.

Feel free to customize the flavor by swapping the Parmesan for nutritional yeast, adding smoked paprika, or finishing with a drizzle of chili oil for extra heat.
