Description

These Puppy Chow Bars are the no-bake treat you didn’t know you needed. A rich blend of peanut butter and chocolate hugs crispy cereal, finished with a dusting of powdered sugar—each bite is chewy, crunchy, and sweet. Perfect for quick snacks, party trays, or even last-minute dessert ideas, this easy recipe fits all your food ideas for dessert cravings and snack prep. Great for lunchboxes, potlucks, and cozy weekend baking (without turning on the oven).

Ingredients

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 pinch salt

5 cups Rice Chex cereal

1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

1. In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Stir until fully melted and smooth.

2. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt.

3. Gently fold in Rice Chex cereal until evenly coated.

4. Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper and press the mixture in gently.

5. Sift powdered sugar over the top while still warm and lightly press it in.

6. Chill for at least 1 hour until set.

7. Slice into 16 bars and serve.

Notes

Let bars sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts.

Use a silicone spatula to mix gently so you don’t crush the cereal.

A drizzle of melted chocolate on top adds a polished bakery-style finish.
