Description

Crunchy, sweet, salty, and perfectly snackable—Salted Caramel Pretzel Puppy Chow is the ultimate treat for cozy nights, holiday gifting, or anytime cravings. This easy no-bake recipe brings together Rice Chex, pretzels, homemade caramel, and powdered sugar for a bold, buttery snack mix. It’s the perfect idea for a quick dessert, party food, or snack board centerpiece. Great for gifting or freezing ahead!

Ingredients

5 cups Rice Chex cereal

2 cups mini pretzels

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup heavy cream

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/8 teaspoon baking soda

1 pinch flaky sea salt

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, mix together 5 cups Rice Chex and 2 cups mini pretzels. Set aside.

2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 1/2 cup butter. Add 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1/4 cup brown sugar. Stir until bubbly and dissolved, about 3 minutes.

3. Reduce heat and stir in 1/4 cup heavy cream. Simmer for 2 more minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 1/8 teaspoon baking soda, and a pinch of flaky salt.

4. Pour warm caramel over Chex and pretzel mix. Gently fold to coat completely.

5. Transfer to a zip-top bag or container. Add 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar. Shake until fully coated.

6. Spread mixture on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool. Serve or store as needed.

Notes

Make sure the caramel is warm—not too hot—before pouring to prevent soggy cereal.

Shake gently if using a zip-top bag to avoid breaking the cereal.

Add-ins like mini chocolate chips or chopped pecans are great but should be added after the mix has cooled.
