Description

Bright, creamy, and full of fruity flavor, this Traditional Watergate Fruit Salad with Pistachios is the retro dessert salad your table needs! It’s a quick breakfast option, easy dinner side, or sweet treat for any gathering. With fluffy whipped topping, juicy fruits, pistachio pudding, and crunchy nuts, it’s a light, no-bake dish perfect for BBQs, brunches, or weekday snacks. If you’re searching for food ideas, healthy snack inspiration, or deliciously easy recipes, this fruit salad is a must-try!

Ingredients

1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple with juice

1 package (3.4 oz) instant pistachio pudding mix

2 cups mini marshmallows

1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed

1 can (15 oz) mandarin oranges, drained

1 cup maraschino cherries or fresh pitted cherries, halved

1/2 cup chopped pistachios

Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the pistachio pudding mix and the entire can of crushed pineapple with its juice until the pudding begins to thicken.

2. Gently fold in the whipped topping until fully blended and smooth.

3. Add in the mandarin oranges, cherries, and mini marshmallows. Carefully fold until all ingredients are evenly distributed.

4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to chill and allow the flavors to meld.

5. Just before serving, sprinkle chopped pistachios over the top for extra flavor and crunch.

6. Serve cold and enjoy!

Notes

Make sure to chill the salad for at least 2 hours—overnight is even better for the best flavor and texture.

Use fresh fruits if you prefer, just be sure they’re well-drained to avoid watering down the salad.

Customize the salad by adding coconut, pecans, or even mini chocolate chips for extra flair.
